The upcoming month will be so hectic.
I don't even dare to imagine.
But it is time to recall about the past year. Just because it is the last day of 2014 and we should all do a Year end review right?
1. Pulled up my GPA by a bit... This is the first thing that comes into my mind.
If I don't continue to do so for the next few semesters then GG.com
So much for not wanting to be involved in the next year's PD.
2. Kscope 2014
I almost forgot this had happened. I am glad that I have so many capable peeps around me to endure this tiring yet memorable experience. There is alot to learn from this huge long event and I hope I would just learn to shut up and not boast about how we are magicians. Yes. Me no humility. The greatest thing I accomplished in this journey was that I learnt to taichi very well to ensure that the level of achievability ( is there such a word. No, says spell checker.) of the whole event is not absurd and I manage to question alot to fix the missing logical links in ppl.
3. Convocation 2014
I didn't attend this event last year, to mark my own official integration to the uni but I am glad that I joined this year's convocation. It was amazing. Amazingly not tiring I would say. I wasn't that tired that I imagined i will be. Lots of fun moments even though it should be very draining to attend many rehearsals but I enjoyed the process of trying to be alert. LOL. To follow commands. To count light sabers. And fix broken finger lights like a boss. To keep uni students quiet backstage as if they are primary school kids. To eat cup noodles as supper. To make new friends. To damage my ears with almost 100 hours of earpiece put on. To bitch about ppl.Nah just kidding.
4. Interviewing and Being Interviewed
How I went crazy and signed up for a position that I didn't have enough requisites and not enough passion to run for it. But I enjoyed the interview because I thought that I have put my interviewing knowledge to use. U know. After running through interviews for the search of my successor, I learnt quite abit.
5. SM and AMing.
Did Patron's day and Open house as well. Being SM and AM. Learnt that communication between parties is like an art. Sometimes u think u have conveyed the information across. But no. Ppl dun get it or they are too cool to follow ur instructions. I am also amazed at how people take things for granted, including myself. They assume that others will prepare things sui sui for them. They think they are popstars. Sorry, but I am the only popstar in my world lolololol. So from then on, I take extra note to elaborate things and scenarios in case people dun get what I am doing or what they need to do.
6.Part time work.
Wow, almost forgot this as well. Wonderful experiences eh. I cannot believe that I part timed 3 times this year. For different companies. First, Energizer batteries promoter. Second, 7 Eleven Shell Petrol Station Cashier. Third, Telephoning person that do not have a proper title but what I do is to ask ppl to do a survey. Not even conducting it. Just tell them to do a survey sent via email.
For the first job, I had to learn about batteries on the spot. No point promoting something u are clueless about. I didn't know that batteries have quite abit of information to consider. Well the only batteries I buy are just normal AA or AAA batteries. Never thought about the battery life, the rechargeable capacity blah blah. Also had to learn about the differences between different battery chargers as well as torchlights. The brightness..in lumens iirc, and how far it can shine. Also learnt alot about the general customers profile that are interested in batteries. How to make use of giving freebies to make ppl buy more. But I haven't attain the skill of my colleague who can tell at one look who will buy, who is just there for fun to listen me talk. Well, I make an effort to talk to all customers who paused at my booth and ramble on about the batteries. Another exciting moment during my job was the part where Kr came and then we waited for the event to end and we took back the unwanted carpets all the way back to school for Kscope. That moment I really feel like a Cheapskate Saikang Queen. I also got to see the zombie lift at Suntec reminding me of L4D2 and was quite amazed at how the workers tear down the whole event. All those wood and boards and posters. And how this guy wrapped up his goods with this STRONG...cling wrap. The strongest I ever seen. He wrap the whole thing tightly without tape. ohh.. and how to setup the battery booth and take them down.
For the second job, (I still have the tshirt and the nametag) I cannot stand this. Even though I learnt alot as well. But. This is something that might motivate me not to flunk my studies. Waking up darn early. In my misfit tshirt. Being highly responsible for money. Before shift and after shift. How to take stock count quickly. Learn about Cigarettes. Smell Cigarettes. -.- The cupboard keeping the cigarettes has this smell I cannot describe. Its like chewing on Bajiao. (some spice that my mum use to make braised toufu) Observe people in their thinking mode. U know they think alot and have this stone face when they deciding between which item to buy. How couples tehhh to each other to persuade them to buy hello kitty toaster. Juggle between cashering and authorizing the petrol refill. Handle all kinds of cards. Give change correctly. I would say this is one of the biggest challenge, to give correct change. I made quite alot of mistakes. Luckily people are forgiving. I met alot of nice people How to greet customers properly because there is a mystery shopper bonus. How to promote items that are on promotion. (rmbed this angmoh he buy mentoes happily after I promote to him and paid for it and he jumped on a taxi and forget to collect his mentoes)
For the third job, this is the most OTOT job ever with almost twice the pay as the above. I learnt how to listen to the Kiwi accent and the Aodaliya accent better. I think I mention this job already in my earlier post. Well, I have a new conclusion that Sgreans call operators are amazingly even more friendly than the Niuxilan and the Aodaliya peeps. I totally enjoy calling them because talking to aunties are easier and more relaxed. (Yes I mentioned Aunties because I can tell their age through phone conversations) There is a particular Put Me on Hold music that I really dislike. Quite a few companies use it. It was used in Aodaliya, Niuxilan and even in Singapore numbers that I called. I wonder which company is the one controlling the phone music. Or rather which company provided this phone operating service. Some companies very high tech can have bombastic phone directory. I had to listen to the whole list of numbers. Press 1 for Sales. Press 2 for .... Press 3 for.... Press 4 for Payables ( Never knew) Press 5 for ...... Press 6 to hear this again. Or Press 0 for the operator.
The audio quality for on hold music should be revolutionized. Some of them are just....damaging to my ears.
7. Remained Single. This wasn't at all my resolution but just a conclusion.
8. Got a new phone. Welcome my Redmi Note.
9. First Faciing Experience. BExpose 2014
I once again prove that I am like a mum whichever camps I attend. (Recall: PI camp)
I am glad to have very tolerable freshies ( I hear complaints from other groups) But Mine was the best. 007. We are chillax yet damn talented. So many deeeeeeeep and mature freshies. So matured that not many of them actually decided to continue in my favourite cca. Well. I....am speechless but very proud to have them as my participants in the camp. Another interesting episode happened in this camp but I shall not say much about it. But I have learn to have alot more empathy for people that seems very strong on the outside.
10. I have made improvements in keeping my things tidy. Well, there is alot of room for improvements still. But giving away 7 bags full of stuff to the Red Salvation Army. It is like a milestone in my life. What a great way to end my 2014. Thank you Red Salvation Army for being near my house and being there to accept things that I no longer need in my life but do not wish that it will go to the dustbins.
With that.
Because I am simply too lazy right now at the moment.
My New Year Resolution?
1. To have New Year Resolution
2. To stick to my New Year Resolution(s) if any.
3. Buck up. Live awarely. Tads it.Try not to be a Gudetama.
I don't even dare to imagine.
